music city series: downtown update

This past weekend, Mayor John Cooper lifted the mask mandate for outdoor settings, while still recommending them when social distancing isn’t possible. As I walked downtown on Monday afternoon, I was happy to see that approximately half the downtown patrons were still wearing masks on the streets. Masks still have to be worn inside restaurants and stores.

2nd Ave in Downtown is still recovering from the Christmas bombing, but over the last few weeks, businesses have begun to open back up. The Wildhorse Saloon opened back up on Friday, April 2nd. We also welcomed a new edition, Taco Bell Cantina. I’m hoping to see more of those affected opening up over the next few weeks or months.

Another new edition coming to downtown this summer is Miranda Lambert’s Casa Rosa Tex-Mex + Cantina. This restaurant will house memorabilia from Miranda Lambert’s tours, music videos, and other performances. I got a little sneak peek inside during construction and all I can say is there are a ton of neon pink lights.

Last but not least, I took another walk through Fifth + Broadway during the daylight and it’s a wonderful addition to Broadway. With that being said, there are so many new places that I need to check out, like The Twelve Thirty Club, the National Museum of African American Music, and Slim & Husky’s. There are plenty of photo opportunities for your cute downtown outfits.

This summer I hope to explore more places downtown!
